(eap) The French zoo Bioparc de Doué-la-Fontaine in the Pays de la Loire region can look back on a successful 2024 season and is now entering its 65th season. The zoo, which is located in the heart of a former quarry, is run by the third generation of the Gay family. Covering an area of 17 hectares, the zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals representing 125 species from all over the world. The animal world of the different continents can be visited again since last weekend and through November 11, as well as during the regional Christmas holidays.

Last year, the zoo welcomed more than 260,000 visitors and donated over 586,000 euros to associations and NGOs for species conservation, as it states. This represents a record level of donations for the park’s own Bioparc Conservation endowment fund. For its 65th season, the park has announced various events such as an egg hunt at Easter, evening opening hours every Friday in July and August, meetings between visitors and conservationists, fall festivities and the “Nature du Bioparc” run, in addition to numerous animal births. ■
