Bodensee-Therme Überlingen Starts Extensive Modernization
(eap) Bodensee-Therme Überlingen, Germany’s thermal spa located directly on the shores of Lake Constance, will be extensively modernized in the coming weeks. The thermal bath will be temporarily closed from May 5 to 25, 2025. During this time, central areas will be redesigned, and technical facilities will be renewed. “This overhaul is far more than just routine maintenance. We are using the time to make targeted investments in quality, sustainability and atmosphere,” says Max Sandreuther, Operations Manager at Bodensee-Therme. “Our aim is to offer guests not just a functioning spa experience, but an all-round inspiring one – from the first step into the foyer to the last moment in the relaxation room.”

This includes the redesign of the reception area – including the reception desk, store and adjacent sanitary facilities. The “Aquarius” restaurant will also be given a new look that fits in with the overall concept. For the first time, digital self-check-in machines (from n-tree) will also be installed to enable guests to enter contactless and quickly. Three of the most frequently used saunas – the “Bootshaus Sauna” (Boathouse Sauna), the “See Sauna” (Lake Sauna) and the “Finnische Sauna” (Finish Sauna) – will also be completely modernized. Each of the saunas will have its own design concept: the Boathouse Sauna will retain its name – an old boat hull will become the centrepiece of the modernized facility, complemented by fresh light and sound elements.
The Lake Sauna becomes the “Kamin Sauna” (Fireplace Sauna) with an open fireplace in the center of a cozy ambience with warm colors. The Finnish sauna is also given a new name – from now on it will be operated under the name “Mineral Sauna”. However, the tried and tested salt stone infusions are to be retained and supplemented with new elements for an intensive heat and well-being experience.
Furthermore, the existing water slide from Klarer will also be upgraded. It will be technically revised and operated without tubes in future to allow children and parents to slide together. In addition, three toilet facilities and four shower areas are to be redesigned. Alongside the design measures, a new filter system from the firm Goldbeck will be installed for water treatment. This is intended to reduce energy consumption and optimize water quality. The spa also wants to use the closure period to actively involve the spa team and carry out internal training and further education. ■
