Budapest: It’s All Over for Vidampark
Built in 1896 and suffering from financial troubles for years, the struggling amusement park in the heart of the Hungarian capital city definitely closed at the start of November. The last move by its municipal administration owners was only their investment in maintaining the park’s current operation. The park’s legendary 1922 wooden rollercoaster is to be preserved and reintegrated into the new space taken from parts of Vidampark for the nearby zoo. Reports suggest that a larger, modern family amusement park is set to be built on the outskirts of Budapest with private investment money. (eap)
