Canada/USA: Méga Parc Announces Cloud Coaster – Track Goes Through Ferris Wheel
Canada’s Méga Parc Éphémère, a 30-year-old indoor park located at the Galeries de la Capitale shopping mall in Québec, has recently announced a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul to support a new cast of rides in a football field-sized space. In a construction period of 18 months, the venue plans to add a new ice skating rink, a hub-less Ferris Wheel as well as 15 new attractions for the whole family.
Highlights of the planned novelties include an approx. 405 feet (123 meter) long Cloud Coaster from Extreme Engineering (cp. EAP 3/16). Its track, which includes two lift sections, will go through the Ferris Wheel – the first installation of this kind in North America. This new Cloud Coaster layout was presented by the manufacturer at IAAPA Expo in Orlando this past November. In single rider carts, guests start at a height of 60 feet (18 meters) to glide at a maximum speed of around 25 mph (40 km/h) over the park. The capacity of the attraction, which will feature a “Steampunk” design, will reach around 120 riders per hour.
Construction works have already started, Méga Parc will invest a total amount of approx. 52 million US Dollar (43 million Euro). (eap)
