(eap) The US amusement park Cedar Point has announced the opening of a “Tilt” coaster from Vekoma for 2025. The roller coaster, which receives the name of “Siren’s Curse”, will include the signature “Tilt” element, 13 air-time moments, two 360-degree barrel rolls and a “Triple Down” element with a curved and banked track. At speeds of up to 58 mph (93 km/h), passengers will race along the 2,966 feet (more than 900-metre) track after a first lift passage up to 160 foot (over 48 meters) at the start of the ride.

At the highest point of the track, the train and track will slowly tilt by 90 degrees into a vertical position, so that riders look straight down. The rail is then docked to the rest of the track and the roller coaster train is released from the rail to race through the rest of the track. The coaster’s two 24-passenger trains will be equipped with integrated audio systems and LED lighting to intensify the experience. Visitors must be at least 48 inches (1.2 meters) tall to ride. The theme of the ride is based on the tales of the mysterious sirens who, according to the legend, lure sailors to their doom with their sweet, seductive voices.

“Record-breaking thrills have always been at the heart of Cedar Point’s roller coaster lineup, and Siren’s Curse lives up to that standard,” says Carrie Boldman, Vice President and General Manager of Cedar Point. “The entire ride is an experience filled with non-stop action, but that first precarious tilted position where you’re hanging on – looking straight down – and waiting for the track to connect will be a signature moment our fans will love. It’s a first-of-its kind for Cedar Point and we’re thrilled to bring it to our guests.”

Siren’s Curse will be Cedar Point’s 19th roller coaster and is scheduled to open in early summer 2025. In addition to Cedar Point, the Cotaland theme park also plans to open a tilt coaster from Vekoma under the name “Circuit Breaker” in 2025. ■
