Charlie Chaplin Museum Scheduled to Open 2012
A museum on the premises of Charlie Chaplin’s property “Manoir de Ban” in Corsier-sur-Vevey in Switzerland where he spent the last 25 years of his life has been planned for nearly ten years. According to the media, the project was delayed because of a resident’s appeal whose claim was finally rejected by the administration court. Now the realization of the museum about Chaplin’s life and works can become concrete: The old mansion should be renovated and afterwards serve as an exhibition room. An exhibition hall with around 2,000 square meters will offer scenographic and multi-media elements. Furthermore, a cinema with 200 seats, a boutique and a restaurant as well as outdoor facilities are also planned. The 34 million Euro museum will be opened in 2012. (eap)
