China: Guangzhou Sunac Land Opens New Dueling Triple Launch Coaster
The Guangzhou Sunac Land cultural tourism complex (located in Guangzhou, near Hong Kong) has recently opened its coaster novelty "Dueling Dragons", a dueling triple LSM launch coaster supplied by Intamin. Riders sit in two trains (one featuring a suspended configuration) designed as dragons, which are launched out of the station into a joint loop.
Stalling by gravity in the loop, the trains move backwards into the already passed LSM section to launch towards the other direction, reaching the crest of a 50 meter high vertical spike. Riders experience a moment of zero-gravity before plunging back towards the station and being accelerated for the third time, eventually passing the loop and reaching top speeds of 100 km/h (sit-down train) and 110 km/h (suspended train) respectively.
Out of the loop, riders pass through a number of inversions, experience several airtime moments and a total of five near-miss configurations. The track length of the sit-down layout reaches 790 meters, the suspended layout reaches 830 meters of track length. (eap)
