China: Second Wanda Cultural Tourism City Now Open in Hefei
Whereas Nanchang Wanda City’s outdoor theme park in the Chinese province of Jiangxi already opened its doors on May 28th this year (c.f. EAP news from May 31st, 2016), the Dalian Wanda Group recently inaugurated its second Wanda City entertainment complex in Hefei.
The first of three parts of the complex comprises a total area of 160 hectares with a gross floor area of three million square meters. Cultural tourism investment amounts to 24 billion RMB (approx. 3.2 billion Euros) with the five major contents tourism, culture, sports, business and hotels. Hefei Wanda City sees a Wanda Mall, an outdoor theme park, a hotel cluster and a street bar among others.
The theme park features 33 thrilling attractions, which according to the Wanda Group include the world’s tallest vertical looping roller coaster. Furthermore, the indoor water park consists of 13 sparkling attractions, one of which is the longest hydromagnetic roller coaster in China. The theming of the entire complex is based on the regional Hui culture. (eap)
