China: Universal Studios Theme Park to Be Built in Beijing
According to the Los Angeles Times and other international media, years of negotiations and planning for the opening of a Universal Studios theme park in Beijing are bearing fruits now. A 3.3 billion Dollar, three-hectare-large Universal Studios complex is said to be built in the eastern Tongzhou District of Beijing. Furthermore, the park is said to be among the company’s largest parks and include the same kind of movie-themed attractions featured at Universal parks in Los Angeles, Orlando, Japan and Singapore. Plans involve attractions specifically created for the Chinese park and a Universal CityWalk complex with retail, dining and entertainment facilities as well as a Universal-themed resort hotel. (eap)
