China: Not for the Faint-hearted – Canton Tower Features New Climbing Experiences

With a total height of 600 metres the Canton Tower located in the Chinese city of Guangzhou is currently the fifth highest building in the world. Around two million tourists visit the broadcast and observation tower anually. French company MND, whose leisure department is specialised in the development of high-ropes courses and ziplines, created a new climbing experience for the tower. The project was financed by the tower’s operating company Global Raytur. The attraction named “Landmark Alpha“ consists out of three different ropes courses starting on 188, 201 and 298 metres in height and feature a total of 37 different games and challenges. Additionally, a 90-metre-long skywalk was implemented which starts on a height of 325 metres and features a special adrenalin offering, the “In & Out“ platform. This mobile platform tilts 180 degrees from the inside of the tower to the outside.

Amanda Luo, CEO of Global Raytur, explains: “Due to its truly unique architecture and structure which resembles nothing else in the world, the implementation of this large-scale project was a real technical and logistical challenge that the French and Chinese MND teams were able to meet successfully.
