Chocolate Factory Opens in the Netherlands at the End of 2024
(eap) Towards the end of this year, a new edutainment offer is set to open in the Dutch town of Veghel (near Eindhoven) that revolves around the popular candy chocolate: The Chocolate Factory (TCF) is the name of the new attraction. In a former industrial building that is part of the Cultuur Haven Veghel – an erstwhile animal feed factory that has been transformed into a lively center for food, art and leisure – visitors await an interactive experience. Guests will become chocolate makers themselves, creating their own products and learning about the technology behind its production. On the different floors of the former factory building, visitors will be able to complete various interactive tasks and are rewarded at the end with their own chocolate to take home with them.
The Chocolate Factory showcases the latest technology in food production, from the development and operation of state-of-the-art machinery to the maintenance and quality control of products. Supported by the Dutch government, the aim of the leisure facility is to create a place where education and entertainment merge seamlessly. The Dutch company Lagotronics Projects is developing an operator room, a VR drone operator game and video mapping projections for the Chocolate Factory. In the so-called operator room, visitors will be able to interact with twelve player consoles equipped with levers, touchscreens, light and sound effects. Customized “drone scooters” (see rendering) will be produced for the VR drone experience. Lagotronics will also handle the show control, installation and programming of the attractions on site. ■
