Cirque du Soleil Brings First Resident Show in Europe to Berlin
(eap) The Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group will debut its first European resident show “ALIZÉ – A Journey into the Invisible” at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin (Germany) in November this year. The theater is currently being redesigned to meet the technical requirements of the production, which will be based on spectacular acrobatics as known from other Cirque du Soleil shows. ALIZÉ is the 54th original Cirque du Soleil production worldwide.
In the upcoming new show, in which artistry and “magic” are to merge, the protagonists embark on a journey into a surreal world. They attempt to reveal the invisible and discover a hidden magic that seems to be concealed behind reality. The audience is immersed in a poetic world in which the impossible becomes possible... ALIZÉ is presented and co-produced by the live entertainment company Live Nation.
The Canadian circus and entertainment company Cirque du Soleil has toured Europe with various productions to date. 30 years ago, a Cirque du Soleil show came to Germany for the first time. The city of Berlin was chosen as the ideal location for the first permanently established Cirque du Soleil show in a European metropolis due to its cosmopolitanism and international appeal, as the group states. ■
