Deutschland: Ein Eisberg zum Anfassen
For the second birthday of the “Polarium“ theme world, which was opened to guests on September 22nd, 2018 (EAP 6/2018), Germany’s Zoo Rostock recently unveiled a new exhibit. The “Eiswelten“ exhibition, located in the Polarium, now offers visitors a small-scale artificial iceberg as a hands-on experience. The 1.60 metre-high construction combines a cooling unit in the base and a dome-shaped substructure, on which air moisture turns into ice. Zoo Rostock aimed at creating a place where visitors would be able to experience how an arctic iceberg feels like.
“Our concept to connect an experience world with education about biodiversity and current problems in relation to the current environment and climate issues catches our visitors. We will continue to walk along this way“, comments Udo Nagel, director of Zoo Rostock. (eap)
