Drone Shows Becoming More and More Popular
(eap) Drones have already been conquering the entertainment and leisure sector for several years. Night events in particular, in which impressive light shows are implemented in the sky, are becoming more and more popular in theme parks and are taking on an ever-greater scope. 1,495 drones hovered above Disneyland Paris’ Sleeping Beauty Castle on France’s National Day, creating the largest drone show in Europe according to the park itself. In a combination of pyrotechnics, lights and elaborate choreography, the flying bodies drew a mix of images of French culture and Disney/Pixar classics with French stories like “Beauty and the Beast”. The show was implemented together with the French company Dronisos.
For the first time, Disneyland Paris implemented the show “Disney D-Light” with Dronisos as part of the park’s 30th anniversary celebrations, which can be seen at the park until September 30. It was followed earlier this year by a second show called “Avengers: Power the Night”, created to coincide with the opening of the “Marvel Avengers Campus”. “Avengers: Power the Night” is scheduled to return to Walt Disney Studios® Park from September 1 through November 5. Also, in collaboration with Dronisos, the “Sweet Summer Nights 3D Drone & Fireworks Show” was created for the U.S. theme park Dollywood. Weather permitting, the show takes place daily here in the “Wildwood Grove” area.

In addition, there will be a “Halloween in the Sky Drone Show” on October 22 and 29. Furthermore, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi recently announced a drone show created specifically by the park that will be presented in the “Bell’ Italia” area on summer weekends through September 3. We also reported on the opportunities of drones for the leisure industry in EAP issue 6/2018. ■
