Dubai: Burj Khalifa Unveils New Spiral Staircase
The world's highest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, recently unveiled a new spiral staircase that connects the 828-meter skyscraper's levels 124 and 125. Thus, visitors to the “At the Top, Burj Khalifa” observation deck, located on the 124th floor, are offered the possibility to climb the stairway's 36 steps in order to reach level 125. Here, they can access an elevator that will take them to level 148, which hosts “At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY”, the world's highest outdoor observatory at 555 meters. Thanks to the new, 100-meter staircase visitors for the first time have the opportunity to explore all three levels with only one ticket. The 125th floor features the “Dubai - A Falcon's Eye View” attraction, which shows the city from a unique perspective.
A total of 60 metric tons of steel and 350 square meters of stainless steel were necessary to build the staircase. The stairway can accommodate up to 150 persons at the same time. A 700-square meter glass facade offers fantastic views of the city. (eap)
