Endless Summer! Sports & Event Location RheinRiff Celebrates Opening
(eap) With a Grand Opening party, the new sports & event location RheinRiff in Meerbusch (not far from NRW’s capital city of Düsseldorf) opens its doors for the first time today. Among the highlights of the indoor center, which is housed in a former steel mill, is a large standing surf wave (realized by Citywave), which today will be used for professional show surfing at several fixed show times, and in the future be available for both surfing beginners and advanced surfers.
On the beach volleyball court (another sporting offer of the 8,500 sqm sports and conference center), a tournament for guests will be held today, followed by an award ceremony. In the associated outdoor area, the new trend sport “Spikeball” can be tried out. At the end of the day, guests can look forward to a party night between palm trees and the beach club with DJ sets and musical surprises.
Similar facilities to the RheinRiff center in Meerbusch, whose main offering is centered on artificial surfing facilities, continue to be in vogue across Europe. In Germany, for example, the Surfwrld in Werne and the SURFTOWN® MUC in the Bavarian capital are scheduled to open in 2024, among others. Our magazine issues EAP 2/2021 & 3/2021 include a multi-piece special feature on such so-called Adventure Sports facilities, which are becoming ever more popular as leisure attractions for a wide target group. ■
