England: Knowsley Safari Launches New AR App

Knowsley Safari Park, near Liverpool, has recently developed the new “AR Safari by Knowsley” smartphone app in collaboration with Manchester-based Augmented Reality (AR) company Red Frog Digital – with the app, visitors can bring the animals in the park’s new park guide to life.

With the addition of AR features, Knowsley Safari aims at encouraging its guests to take the new guide book home as a souvenir to get additional information about the animals living in the park via app.

A similar idea to expand the visitor experience by adding digital offerings was realized at Germany’s Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen, which last season integrated the new “Serengeti Interactive” tool to its park app, allowing visitors to feed, water or brush the animals living in the park via touch screen click (cf.
