Europe: Re-Start of Leisure & Amusement Park Operations in DACH-Region (Germany-Austria-Switzerland)
The “patchwork” of Corona shutdown-related closures, regulations, bans and controls is sweeping across Europe. But the first positive news give hope for the leisure industry. Today, we’d like to provide you with an up-to-date overview of different regions in Europe – we have researched WHO can start into this year’s season WHERE and WHEN…
For the amusement and theme parks in Germany, the perspective for a start into this year’s season is still unclear. The only exception so far is Heide Park, which will open its gates on May 1 this week, as well as some zoos and wildlife parks, which are allowed to reopen their outdoor areas for guests (cf. EAP news of 28 Apr 2021).
Austria will allow reopening for almost all sectors from May 19, subject to compliance with a comprehensive Covid-19 protection concept. The focus is especially on the instrument of Covid-19 quick tests – people who can show a valid negative quick test result are allowed to re-visit restaurants, stores and museums, among others. Tourists from abroad will also only be admitted if they do not come from a high-risk area or if they can prove that they have previously complied with a quarantine. The reopening perspective also applies to amusement parks – Familypark Neusiedlersee and Fantasiana Erlebnispark Strasswalchen, among others, are hoping for the season to start in mid-May. Both parks have novelties in store for their visitors this year – while Fantasiana will open a completely new theme area with a Family Multi Launch Coaster as highlight attraction (cf. EAP news of 10 Feb 2021), Familypark will surprise its guests with the new Zamperla ride “Stellarium”.
There is positive news from Switzerland: Here, people have been able to visit amusement parks again since April 24, in compliance with strict hygiene regulations. In any case, it is obligatory for visitors over the age of twelve years to wear face masks throughout all park premises, in addition to keeping physical distance to other guests. Visitors do not need any documents to visit amusement parks, but they must register for a “Covid contact tracing” with their smartphone, e.g. in Conny-Land. The new Ticiland indoor theme park, which we presented in detail in EAP issue 1/2021, will also be allowed to reopen its gates as of May 12. According to the park, the new outdoor area with numerous interactive offers will also be completed by then.
