Euskirchen/North Rhine Westphalia: Wund Files Building Application for Sports and Wellness Pool
On 11 December, the councillor of Euskirchen (Germany) consented to Josef Wund’s construction plans for a sports and wellness bathing facility. With a total investment of 20 million euros, Wund’s vision foresees a facility that distinctly sets itself apart from the local competition with high quality, a wide range of offers, and a prominent wellness area. The facility is to accommodate a maximum of nearly 1,400 guests at a time. An annual 320,000 visitors are anticipated. The first ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2009, and the facility is to open in the autumn of 2010 with around 200 newly created job positions. In addition, Wund’s thermal spa project in Carinthia—with a 70-million euro investment—seems to be shaping up bit-by-bit. Meanwhile, things are going along extremely well for his showpiece, the Erding spa: according to official information, 1.4 million guests visit Erding each year. Additional locations for new thermal spa facilities are being reviewed. (eap)
