Finland’s Särkänniemi Amusement Park Becomes Kärsänniemi
Kärsänniemi? What is Kärsänniemi? If you currently visit the website or social media channels of the Finnish Särkänniemi amusement park (Tampere), you will immediately catch sight of a little pink piglet smiling nicely and waving at you in a friendly manner. “Pouta Pig” introduces itself as the “boss” of Kärsänniemi … Kärsänniemi? A renaming of the park after more than 40 years? Or an April Fool’s joke?
Neither, because: With the “Kärsänniemi” campaign (kärsä=pig’s snout, niemi =peninsula), the park, which is located on a peninsula, is giving its guests and fans a little foretaste of the upcoming season, in which Pouta Pig, the new star in Särkänniemi, will play a big role. Because with the start of the season on 29 April, visitors will be able to discover the “Pouta Pig Village”, a new themed area for children where Pouta Pig and his friends are at home. Learn more about this year’s novelty in Särkänniemi and what exactly it’s all about exclusively in our upcoming May/June issue (to be published on 3 May). (eap)
