First Wing Coaster in the U.S. Opened at Dollywood
At the end of March, Dolly Parton celebrated together with 1,000 invited guests the opening of “Wild Eagle” – the first steel wing coaster in the U.S. – at Dollywood, Tennessee. “Wild Eagle was a long time in the makin’ but truly worth every minute as that incredible bird took flight over Dollywood,” Parton said happily and invited all of the guests to take a ride on Wild Eagle : “… be an eagle not a chicken!”. The floorless coaster from B&M is 64 meters high and its 953 meter long track features four inversions. During the nearly two-and-a-half-minute journey, riders reach a top speed of 98.2 km/h. The 20 million dollar attraction “Wild Eagle” is the largest single investment in Dollywood’s 26-year history. (eap)
