Fourth Edition of VR Awards Celebrated Digital Ceremony
For the fourth time, the VR Awards celebrated its annual award ceremony to honor innovations and companies, which are dedicated to Virtual Reality. Awardees were honored in 14 categories during this year’s virtual edition of the VR Awards ceremony. This year, the “Accenture VR Lifetime Achievement Award“ celebrated its premier – it was presented to Cher Wang, CEO and Chairman of the HTC technology concern. During her virtual acceptance speech, she said: “[…] When I first looked at VR seven years ago I could see that it would become the most immersive form of communication and collaboration and could really bring people closer together and open our eyes to boundless possibilities. […]“
For their collaboration on “Avengers: Damage Control“, ILMxLAB and The Void received the award for “Out-of-Home VR Entertainment of the Year“. The two companies, who already collaborated in 2018 for the development of the hyper realistic experience “Ralph Breaks VR“ (cf. EAP news of 30 Nov 2018), created the stationary Damage Control experience, in which guests are able to play a super hero character from the Marvel universe to rescue the world. The award for the “VR Experience of the Year“ was presented to Tender Claws art and game studio for its game development of “The Under Presents“.
“Hardware of the Year“ is the “Index“ system solution by US-American company Valve. Walt Disney Animations received the “VR Film of the Year“ award for the production of “Myth: A Frozen Tale“. Klip VR, which was founded in early 2020 in Delhi, India, was awarded as “Rising VR Company of the Year“. The worldwide telecommunications company Qualcomm from San Diego received the “Innovative VR Company of the Year“ award.
