France: More Than 35-Year-Old Waterpark Aqualud to Be Replaced by The Dune Luxus Hotel Project

After the Aqualud water park, located in northern France in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, in the Pas-de-Calais department, about 30 kilometers from Boulogne-sur-Mer, remained completely closed due to the Corona pandemic in 2020 and also in 2021 to date, the adventure pool is now to be demolished after 35 years of existence and replaced by a new luxury hotel complex.

Most recently, the water park located directly on the beachfront was part of the Spanish Parques Reunidos group, which sold the facility to the real estate company ADIM, a subsidiary of the French VINCI group (a global player in concessions, construction and energy engineering). In July, a protocol was signed by the city council, which provides for the creation of a five-star hotel with 130 rooms and suites, a restaurant under the direction of top chef Alexandre Gauthier, a brasserie, a panoramic bar, a swimming pool with wellness area, as well as stores and underground parking in place of the adventure pool. If everything goes according to plan, demolition of the old building is scheduled to begin in spring 2022 at the earliest. (eap)
