France: Ubisoft® Develops Next-Generation Theme Park for Malaysia
Ubisoft®, a French computer game developer, announced it will create a next-generation theme park which is expected to open in the center of Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur in 2020. The park will feature innovative rides, attractions and shows inspired by some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, such as Assassin’s Creed®, Just Dance® and Rabbids®. The project is being led by Ubisoft Motion Pictures jointly with RSG, co-owner and co-developer of Movie Animation Park Studios, a Malaysian company specializing in developing theme parks, themed attractions and integrated developments. “Together we are creating a place where every guest is a player, every ride is a playground, every visit is a game. In RSG, we’ve found a partner with a successful track record in working with international brands, a shared ambition to design the family destination of the future, and a wealth of expertise in theme park development,” Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ senior vice president Jean de Rivières comments. The company is responsible for expanding the Ubisoft’s game brands to new areas of entertainment. In 2013 a “Rabbids” Dark Ride was launched at French amusement park Futuroscope (cf. EAP issue 2/2014) and in 2014 the company published its plans for a 3-D “Rabbids” movie (cf. EAP News from March 25, 2014). (eap)
