France: Vulcania Has a New Leader – Sophie Rognon Takes Over Management of the Park

Vulcania, the science and theme park located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, has a new female leader at its helm. Earlier this week, Sophie Rognon was officially appointed as the park’s new general manager, replacing her predecessor Grégory Mouillesseaux. Frédéric Bonnichon, president of the operating company SEM Volcans, welcomed the new general manager, who has 25 years of experience in both the private and public sectors in France and Germany and will take over the management of the park with immediate effect. Since 2006, Rognon has been with the Auvergne region (later: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) and has led several major projects there, including the expansion of the fiber optic network and, most recently, the creation of the Campus Région du numérique, a university and technology center near Lyon. The common goal will be to drive the park’s development so that it continues to contribute to the tourist appeal of Auvergne in the future. In addition, the relationship of trust should be improved internally and externally, as the statement of the park says.

This summer – in its 20-year-anniversary-season – the park recorded its best result in a long time with 163,000 visitors, which was certainly not least thanks to the success of its new signature attraction “Namazu” (Intamin), which opened last season. (eap)
