GB: On the Trail of a Monster – Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein Now Open

After several postponements of the opening of Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein due to the pandemic situation in Great Britain, the new visitor experience located in Bath has now finally opened its doors on July 19th. Since then, visitors have been able to follow the tracks of the popular monster and learn more about its history of origins in the 1818 published novel “Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus“ by author Mary Shelley and the monster entering modern pop-culture.

A highlight of the exhibition is an animatronic figure, of Mary Shelley’s monster how she imagined it in her novel, which was supplied by Millenium FX. The 2.4 metre (eight feet)-high breathing figure looks like if it would really be alive. Besides the exhibition areas, the basement of the building offers a walkthrough in which visitors experience “the unhollow practices of a deranged scientist“ according to the operator. Additionally, the destination will soon offer an escape room with 14 tricky quests.
