Germany: “Paramour“ Cirque du Soleil Musical to Celebrate European Premiere in Hamburg
This April will see the European premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s “Paramour” musical production, which was frequently performed on NYC’s Broadway from 2016 to 2017, at Stage Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg/Germany, realized in cooperation with the Stage Entertainment group. The artistic musical tells the story of the actress Indigo, who has to decide between love and success in the “golden era of Hollywood”.
“Bringing the musical Paramour to the German stage with Cirque du Soleil is one of the most fascinating and challenging theatre projects we ever had. The Stage Theater Neue Flora with its spacious space seems like it was made especially for this breath-taking production,” said Uschi Neuss, Managing Director of Stage Entertainment Germany.
Diane Quinn, Chief Creative Officer, Cirque du Soleil, adds, “We are very happy that – after our premiere on Broadway – we can now present the Paramour musical together with Stage Entertainment in Germany. Stage is exactly the partner needed to bring musicals on stage at the highest level with world-class artistry in the visionary Cirque-style. As Europe’s largest musical producer, Stage is the best choice to implement this project.”
In order to further diversify its show portfolio, Cirque du Soleil has recently acquired Los Angeles/California-based The Works Entertainment, which is specialized in live entertainment with production brands such as “The Illusionists” and “Circus 1903”. The Canadian circus company thus concluded its third takeover deal within two years: The Blue Man Group was acquired in 2017, VStar Entertainment has been part of Cirque du Soleil since 2018 (cf.
