Germany: “The Tailor of Ulm“: Tripsdrill’s Spectacular New Flight Attraction

The leisure and animal park Tripsdrill, which is located just under an hour’s drive from the German city of Stuttgart, now invites its visitors to an altitude flight on “Höhenflug”, promising interactive flight fun in a height of approx. 20 meters. The new attraction is a “Sky Fly” model from Gerstlauer with interactively controllable wings. As a pilot, guests can just glide through the air or make wild rollovers. Also, a system counts the number of the rollovers so visitors can challenge each other. In total, the new Sky Fly counts twelve flight gondolas for one person each.

The attraction’s theming is based on the invention by Albrecht Ludwig Berblinger, better known as “The Tailor of Ulm”. At the beginning of the 19th century, Berblinger has invented a flight machine – due to unfavorable weather conditions, the presentation of his invention was not successful and he crashed into the Danube river. Tripsdrill’s new attraction retells his story. The elaborate design is rich in details: The flight machines are copies of the original flight model in shape and color, the queueing line with a façade in the style of Ulm-typical framework provides visitors with an insight view into Berblinger’s studio. Guests aged seven years and older and with a height of a minimum of 1.25 meters can experience the new attraction.

The “Tailor of Ulm” theme area, also including interactive games and a gastronomic offer will be completed in 2018 (c.f. park report in EAP, 2/17). The park invests a total of one million Euros into the new theme area.
