Germany: † Michael (Mike) Pledl Passes Away
On 2nd December 2020, Michael Pledl, managing owner of the Gambit Leisure GmbH consultancy bureau with offices in Bremen and Hamburg, passed away at the age of 72 years. The former shareholder and managing director of Bremen-based Huss Maschinenfabrik already had a wealth of experience in the leisure industry when he took the decision to break new grounds and establish the Gambit Leisure GmbH in 1999. Over decades, Mike Pledl had been making a name for himself in the industry, his professional expertise and knowledge were in demand in Germany and abroad.
Pledl was one of the founding members of the German Association of Amusement Rides & Accessory Manufacturers (VDV) – he served as its Chairman for twelve years and worked in many technical committees and working groups. He also represented the companies in the manufactures & suppliers committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) and was engaged in its board of directors for four years. Mike Pledl not only represented many ride manufacturers and served as a consultant but was a highly respected personality in our industry – and a great friend for many.
