Germany: Allosaur Skeleton Extends Exhibition of the Dinosaur Museum Altmühltal

The fascination for dinosaurs still continues in modern times – the sixth film of the “Jurassic“ sci-fi movie series will be released this year – and so Bavaria’s Dinosaur Museum Altmühltal also stays popular with visitors from the region and tourists alike. Frequently it has special novelties to its guests on display. This year is no exception: The dinosaur skeletons “Rocky“, a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex, and “Dracula“, the (according to official statements) largest pterosaur ever found, will be joined today by “Little Al”, the original skeleton of the youngest allosaur ever found. Quick fact: The 150-million-year-old skeleton was found by the museum’s co-founder and paleontologist Raimund Albersdörfer in 2011 during an excavation in the U.S. state of Wyoming.

“This allosaur is another extremely exciting original skeleton,” comments Michael Völker, founder and CEO of Dinosaur Museum Altmühltal. “We present it at eye level, as it were, with the visitors – a particularly intense encounter for dinosaur fans. On our 1.5-kilometer-long adventure trail, we meet him again: as a lifelike replica, as he really lived in his environment back in his era.” (eap)
