Germany: Bavaria Filmstadt Celebrates 40th Anniversary

It all started with the 55 metre-long submarine model, which was part of the scenery of the successful German movie production “The Boat“ (1981) and has been part of the exhibition ever since, when Bavaria Filmstadt officially opened on August 1^st, 1981 (see EAP 2/2019). Since that day, the visitor attraction has welcomed around 15 million visitors and movie fans. Consistently, Bavaria Filmstadt changes its offerings and adds temporary shows, events, exhibitions and hand-on-experiences. This year, visitors are able to visit the palace set from the fantasy cinema movie “The Magic Flute”, which will premiere in 2022 (see EAP news f. 22 May 2021).
