Germany: Every Euro counts! – monte mare Initiates Fundraising Campaign for Flood Victims
The monte mare group, operator of thermal baths and adventure pools based in Rhineland-Palatinate – one of the federal states in Germany hardest hit by the extreme rainfall in the middle of this month –, is supporting the flood victims in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate with a crowdfunding campaign. monte mare and a network of partner companies, as initiators, have filled a pot with 125,000 euros at the Volksbank Rhein-Ahr-Eifel. From this pot, every additional donation received is being doubled – until the amount in the pot is used up. In total, more than 240,000 euros have been donated so far.
“The situation in the flooded areas in northern Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia still leaves us breathless. We are receiving photos and descriptions of the situation from affected people, from our staff and from our network that exceeds anything we can even begin to imagine. The aid organizations and countless volunteers are doing superhuman things on the ground – and are still finding bodies. In Rhineland-Palatinate, 150 people are still missing. It will be years before anything like ‘normality’ returns there,” says the group of companies.
