Germany: Heide Park Resort to Open Interactive „Ghostbusters“ Dark Ride

As the Heide Park Resort – Germany’s second largest theme park – officially announced yesterday, next season will see the opening of a new “Ghostbusters 5D” interactive dark ride, which will be the first interactive “Ghostbusters” attraction in a German leisure park. In cooperation with Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. and Ghost Corps, the 5D family attraction based on the well-known movies will be built in the park’s former “Spencer Hall”. Until this summer, the facility was the location for the “Hello Spencer Show”. Children aged six years and older can then slip into the skin of a ghost hunter – equipped with laser proton pistols, ghost traps and 3D glasses. They will drive through a warehouse in the “ECTO-1” cart to jointly fight in teams of eight persons and on the side of the Ghostbusters against flying slime ghosts. This adventure requires all senses as the ghosts appear suddenly and sometimes can only be heard or felt.

“In the 2017 season, the Heide Park Resort keeps focusing on families. Following the integration of the ‘Drachenzähmen – Die Insel” theme area, which offers a variety of attractions, and the children’s drivers school ‘Wüstenflitzer’, we are bringing in ‘Ghostbusters 5D’ as the third adventure for the whole family,” said Sabrina de Carvalho, Heide Park Resort Managing Director. “With a total of some 7.2 million Euros we are also making the largest investment of the past years in a family attraction. Furthermore, it will be our first only indoor ride.”

In addition to the new dark ride, the park also plans to invest in its Adventure Hotel: new room categories will expand the existing accommodation offer. (eap)
