Germany: Highest Portable Ferris Wheel “Hi-Sky Munich“ Starts Operation this Coming Sunday
This Sunday (April 14th), the 78 meter high Hi-Sky Munich portable Ferris wheel installed in Munich’s Werksviertel-Mitte district will be officially inaugurated, inviting guests to a 30-minute panoramic ride over the city’s rooftops with a view over the Bavarian capital and to the nearby Alps. According to an official entry in the Guinness World Records, the “R80 XL” Ferris wheel model, designed by the Dutchman Ron A. Bussink and manufactured by Munich-based steel construction company MAURER SE, is currently the largest portable Ferris wheel in the world. The attraction features 27 glassed, air-conditioned Zeppelin gondolas with a capacity of 16 passengers each. Depending on the wheel’s rotation speed, up to 1,700 guests can be transported per hour. Fully automatic access control to the attraction is provided by an electronic ticketing system from SKIDATA. On request, the panoramic Ferris wheel ride can be combined with special experiences such as a “Veal Sausage breakfast” or a guided city tour over Munich’s rooftops.
“The Hi-Sky is to become part of the state capital, providing unique memories. Whether it’s a conference in the gondola or a marriage proposal – we are also able to offer tailor-made experiences,” says Arantxa Dörrié, Managing Director of Hi-Sky Consulting GmbH (a company of Motorworld Group), operator of the portable Ferris wheel. The attraction will remain at its current location for at least two years and will be operational 365 days a year. (eap)
