Germany: Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg Presents “Venice“

After a construction period of one year and 35,000 hours of work, Hamburg’s Miniatur Wunderland has inaugurated “Venice” as its latest theme attraction yesterday, completing its “Italy” miniature theme area, which already features Rome, the “lost city” of Pompeij with the Vesuvius volcano and the Liguria coastal region (cf. EAP news from July 2nd, 2013 & October 6th, 2016).
The nine square meter large Venice miniature world is the smallest theme area of Miniatur Wunderland built in the model railway exhibition until to date. However, due to complex detail works around one million Euro was invested in its construction. Visitors can now discover famous landmarks of the city, including the St. Mark’s Basilika and Rialto Bridge, as well as some thousand miniature figures, around one hundred gondoliers, scenes out of film and history and some works of art of Venice’s Biennale. More than 4,000 LED bulbs have been installed to realistically simulate a day-night-rhythm, furthermore visitors can discover 17 interactive bottom stations to activate movements and effects in the scenery.
Besides the inauguration of its latest miniature theme world attraction, Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg has also launched a new website recently (www.miniatur-wunderland.de). (eap)
