Germany: Most Zoos and Animal Parks Are Welcoming Guests Again

Almost all German federal states have given “green light” for the reopening of zoological gardens; Bavaria permits the opening of animal parks as of 11th May next week. A general condition for zoos to reopen is the implementation of strict hygiene and social distancing measures, which in most cases include the online booking of tickets and time slot reservation as well as the wearing of protective face masks.
Amusement parks with integrated animal enclosures are also allowed to open their zoo area to visitors. Since yesterday, the Wildparadies Tripsdrill (the related animal park of Erlebnispark Tripsdrill) is welcoming guests again – the Tripsdrill leisure park with its two new Vekoma coasters “Volldampf” and “Head-over-Heels” (cf. our cover story in EAP 2/2020) is ready to start operation at any time. In Northern Germany, the Jaderpark has opened its animal park area and adventure playgrounds, offering families with younger kids varied experiences away from the rides.
Following yesterday’s minister conference about a possible loosening of the current Corona protection measures in Germany, the German federal states now decide on possible permits also for theme parks and leisure pools to reopen (cf. EAP News of 7 May 2020).
