Germany: Municipality of Fellbach Takes over Operation of “F3 Family & Leisure Pool“

Since August 1^st this year, the F3 Familien- und Freizeitbad (F3 Family & Leisure Pool) in Fellbach, Germany has been completely in municipal hands. Opened in 2013, the leisure pool complex, the facilities of which include an indoor pool with a sports and adventure area, an outdoor pool and a sauna landscape (cf. EAP 6/2013), was previously operated under a lease by g1 Beratungs- und Einkaufsgesellschaft für Bäder, which has now had to terminate the existing contract prematurely due to the threatening economic impact of the Corona pandemic.

The city of Fellbach is thus the owner and now also the new operator of the leisure pool complex. In this new role, the municipality is supported by the Stuttgart-based InterSpa Group, which has extensive know-how in pool operation and management. Markus Dechand, Center Manager at InterSpa, is now serving as operational manager of the F3. Currently, the outdoor pool and sauna facilities are open again for guests who need to reserve a time slot for their visit in advance. The indoor pool and the adventure area (including a slide tower and more offerings) are still closed due to Corona, but the time is being used to carry out repair and renovation work. (eap)
