Germany: New “Worlds Journey“ Playground Invites Kids to Explore and Play at Dortmund‘s Westfalenpark

At Dortmund’s Westfalenpark, on a ground space of 11,800 square meters, the “Robinson Playground“, which was getting a bit long in the tooth, has received a new concept including new play structures under the motto of “traveling the worlds“. The new playing structures “Strandreich“, “Wilder Wald“, “Zwergspitzen“, “Wolfswanst“, “Dornspitzberge“ and the “Listige Labyrinth“ invite children to play, climb, slide and explore up to a height of 14.5 meters. Allgäu-based company hochkant was responsible for the planning of execution, assembling and installation of the new equipment.

“The new play area in the park is based on the standards of modern pedagogy. The Playground, which was already popular among the visitors before, has now turned into a fascinating new world for children of all ages,“ comments Dortmund‘s mayor Thomas Westphal. The city of Dortmund has invested a total sum of 1.8 million euros in the reattractivation of the playground, which was planned by Dresden-based Büro Rehwaldt Landschaftsarchitekten. (eap)
