Germany: New Observation Tower with High-Thrill Attraction to Be Built at the Rappbode Dam in the Harz Mountains
In late 2012, the “Megazipline” was opened at the Rappbode Dam in the Harz Mountains near Elbingerode, an approximately one-kilometer-long double rope slide that lets thrill-seekers fly across the water (see EAP news 19 Feb 2013). In the past years, further adventures have been added to the leisure offer, behind whose development and operation are the managing directors Maik and Stefan Berke of Harzdrenalin GmbH. Visitors can also do “Wallrunning” on site, where they run down the dam wall headfirst – secured with a rope, of course. Also part of the offer is a pendulum jump, unique in Europe, with a 75-meter free fall element, located under the more than 400 meter long suspension bridge that was also built there.
Now, another thrilling attraction is to be created: “Solitair”, an almost 40-meter-high observation tower, which will hold a so-called “Ultrashot” for guests, which will catapult brave visitors beyond the actual structure. The attraction will again be implemented in collaboration with hochkant GmbH. The opening is scheduled for the start of the 2022 season. Learn more about this new attraction in one of our next EAP issues. (eap)
