Germany: Renovation Phase Started at Universum Bremen Science Center

At the beginning of November, Germany’s Universum® Bremen science center started its current renovation phase that will be completed with the re-opening on March 6, 2015. While the science center’s outdoor discovery park and the special exhibition “ENTSCHEIDEN” (cp. EAP news from Oct 31, 2014) are open to visitors within this period at a special rate, the interior of the facility is completely being renovated. The facility’s main topics, namely people, earth and universe are removed and replaced by the new three main topics people, nature and technology. New exhibits, exotic small animals, a new spatial experience as well as state-of-the-art multi-media stations will await visitors next year. Nevertheless, the proven interactive concept of the science center will be maintained. A newly installed “TechnikStudio” will be available for families and school groups to test their creativity with quality construction system products (for example from fischertechnik). A Science Lounge invites guests to take a break in a nice atmosphere. The existing children’s area, which is open for guests aged three to eight, remains. In addition, regional research institutes will present their current work at the science center in the future. (eap)
