Germany: Roland Mack Introduced to „Hall of Fame“ of German Family Businesses
This past Wednesday, Roland Mack, the founder and owner of Germany’s Europa-Park, has been introduced to the “Hall of Fame” of German family businesses. The festive event was held in the city of Munich. For eight years already, the Handelsblatt newspaper has honored outstanding business personalities who are classified as “pioneers of the German economy”.
The jury sees Mack as a “visionary entrepreneur” who set standards with regard to sustainable and contemporary company management. Mack’s further outstanding achievements include – according to the jury – the successful development of Europa-Park, the long-term security and creation of jobs, environmentally friendly management as well as his social and cultural engagement. In his laudatory speech, Stefan Heidbreder, Managing Director of Germany’s Foundation for Family Businesses, praised Mack as a role model with regard to the existentially important question of company succession. At an early stage, the entrepreneur involved his sons Michael and Thomas Mack in the company management. Roland Mack himself states that he sees his task in passing on a well-positioned company to the next generation. (eap)
