Germany: Schlösserland Sachsen Launches Interactive App “Schlösserland erleben“

Employees of the Museology and Marketing departments of Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen gGmbH spent around two years on the development of the interactive “Schlösserland erleben“ app, which was developed in cooperation with the company fluxguide from Vienna. Its launch is an important step in terms of digitization in order to keep up with times and continue to make the region attractive for visitors. In addition to the most important information for planning visits and the “schlösserlandKARTE“, the app offers visitors personalized tips for their stay, such as suitable activities that can be undertaken or places that can be visited. The app doesn't come with simple information, but features avatars and small puzzles and mini-games that convey the content in a fun way.

The project was funded by the tourism plan of the Free State of Saxony. Saxonys Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Barbara Klepsch emphasizes her positive attitude toward the project: “The new Schlösserland app shows visitors our diversity of cultural treasures and tourist destinations in Saxony. The app draws attention to many beautiful places of experience in the Free State and caters to the individual interests of guests. It is important for tourism to pick up on the changes in people's communication and travel behavior brought about by digitalization. This will keep tourism offerings in Saxony highly visible and competitive. We were therefore happy to support this very innovative app from our tourism funding guideline.“ So far, seven of the countrys castles can be found in the app. But more are to follow soon. (eap)
