Germany: Start of Comprehensive Renovation Works at Spreewelten Indoor Swimming Pool Delphin
The Hallenbad Delphin (“Dolphin Indoor Swimming Pool”) – a 40-year old municipal sports pool complex located in the German town of Lübbenau/Brandenburg – has been closed for extensive renovation works, including an energetic renovation of the facility at an investment sum of 7.6 million Euros.
In addition, further renovation measures are planned: “There will be lots of changes in both inside and outside the facility. The building’s façade, the swimming pools, the changing rooms and the sauna will be renewed. The employees’ area will also be redesigned in order to create even better working conditions. Accessibility and barrier-free access to and in the bathing complex as well as in the changing rooms will play a major role,” reveals Kerstin Schäfer, Head of Property and Facility Management, municipality of Lübbenau. The technological standards in the venue will also be renewed, adds General Manager Axel Kopsch. The reopening of the bathing complex is foreseen for summer next year, while work on the outside facilities and the façade will continue beyond that.
The Hallenbad Delphin sports pool complex complements the leisure bathing fun offered at Spreewelten Bad Lübbenau (“swimming with penguins”), which is located only a few minutes’ walk away. After an extensive redesign, Spreewelten Bad Lübbenau was reopened in December 2018 and at the beginning of this year, a related hotel was added (read also our cover story in EAP 2/2019). (eap)
