Germany: Time Gift Instead of Service Replacement – Robot Supports Processes in Maisel’s Liebesbier Restaurant
In the Liebesbier restaurant located on the Maisel & Friends brewery premises in Bayreuth, Bavaria (which is also home to Maisel’s Beer Experience World), service robot “Bella” has been supporting the processes for a few weeks now, with the little machine assisting the team with the serving and removing of food. Thomas Wenk, co-manager of Liebesbier, discovered the service robot at Internorga in Hamburg and initially ordered it for a test phase (read also our Internorga & Food Trends report in EAP 4/22). Thanks to Bella, the team now saves time and can concentrate even more on personal contact with the guest.
“The integration went quickly, because Bella makes the work of our service staff much easier,” confirms Mathias Locker, head chef of the restaurant. In order to enable the robot to move around in the restaurant, the table plan was programmed into its control system at the beginning, so that it now only scans the path to avoid obstacles such as (moving) people, dogs and bags – if the little service helper doesn’t get past, it kindly asks to be let through. For the guests at Liebesbier, Bella has an entertainment factor. To also look nice, the machine’s “face” is reminiscent of a cat. (eap)
