Monitoring AI for Amusement Rides at Hannover Messe
(eap) There are some exciting developments for engineers and technology experts also from the attractions industry to see at Hannover Messe in Germany – one of the largest international industrial trade fairs, this year’s edition of which will take place from March 31 to April 4 next week. The product show, which occupies 15 halls at the exhibition grounds in Hanover and other exhibition areas beyond, will present innovations on topics such as “Smart Manufacturing”, “Digital Ecosystems”, “Energy for Industry” and “Engineered Parts & Solutions”.
How Artificial Intelligence (AI) can contribute to the safety of amusement park rides can be discovered at the TÜV Nord Group stand. There, DMT RideGuard (part of TÜV Nord) will be using a model looping coaster and an associated dashboard to demonstrate how an AI-supported real-time monitoring system can optimize the safety and maintenance of rides. The aim of the approach is to provide valuable support for responsible employees in the decision-making process when operating rides and facilities (see our article “AI in Ride Safety”, published in EAP 5/2024).
“DMT RideGuard is a milestone in amusement park safety and maintenance. The system enables real-time monitoring that not only meets the high safety standards, but also improves them even further. For amusement park operators, this also means a reduction in unplanned ride downtime and therefore maximum efficiency,” explains Jens Schweitzer, Head of Geoinstruments & Industrial Monitoring Solutions at DMT.
Dr. Maik Tiedemann, DMT Managing Director and CEO of the TÜV NORD Energy & Resources business unit, adds: “Our monitoring services, such as DMT RideGuard, are prime examples of how we use innovative technologies to increase safety and efficiency and at the same time strengthen confidence in the technology that surrounds us in our everyday lives. We look forward to presenting our solutions to an international audience of experts in Hanover and to deepening the exchange about the technology of the future.”
The AI-based DMT Ride Guard solution was tested in cooperation with Movie Park Germany, among others, which initially had the technology installed on two of its attractions (c.f. EAP News of 15 May 2024).
