Germany: Toskana Therme Bad Sulza Is the First Spa to Receive “GreenSign” Certificate for Sustainable Development
As the first thermal spa in Germany, the Toskana Therme Bad Sulza, located in Thuringia, was recently awarded the “GreenSign” certificate in the spa segment by the InfraCert Institute (now GreenSign Institut GmbH), an institute for sustainable development. Previously, all five hotels of Toskanaworld had already received this certificate. The spa is thus seen as a pioneer for environmentally conscious and sustainable equipment as well as operational management. In the evaluation of the institute, which was founded in 2015 and offers an integrated testing system with GreenSign, criteria such as energy efficiency, water and waste management as well as aspects such as regionality and mobility, management and communication as well as social commitment and cultural heritage are included. Up to now, the audit has evaluated and documented ecological, social and economic aspects of hotel management.
Susanne Wündsch, Residence Manager of the Toskana Therme and the hotel at the Therme Bad Sulza: “After the successful certification of the hotel at the Therme Bad Sulza with the GreenSign certificate, we expressed the wish for the extension to the Therme. We did this with conviction, because we would like to rate the previous work with the institute as very good. The process is organized in a very practical way and addresses all relevant areas comprehensively, clearly and competently. The opportunity for continuous development is given. I look forward to when my colleagues at Toskana Therme Bad Orb and Toskana Therme Bad Schandau will also soon be the proud bearers of such certification.” The Toskana Therme Bad Sulza achieved Level 3 of the certification, according to which a sustainability concept has been implemented and is lived in almost all areas of the spa facility.
