Germany: Tropical Islands Adds New Holiday Houses
Germany’s Tropical Islands, which was taken over by Spanish Parques Reunidos Group one year ago (cf. EAP news of 12 Dec 2018), will expand its accommodation offer by adding a new holiday homes complex with 135 houses. The first 79 house units will be set up during the first half of this year, the further 56 units are scheduled to be completed in August. “With the new accommodation facilities we’re reacting to the strong demand of guests for overnight stays,“ explains Wouter Dekkers, General Manager of Tropical Islands. The new houses, which will be built by Dutch WANDERS company, will provide room for four, six and up to twelve persons and will be heated by a cogeneration unit.
Dekkers adds: “We want to make multiple day stays more attractive for visitors. Tropical Islands should serve as a basis for guests who are looking to explore the region.“ The tropical leisure destination offers accommodation facilities such as a tent-camp, themed lodges, mobile homes and more. With the construction of the new house complex, the resort will offer a total of 248 holiday homes. In 2019, approx. 1.2 million guests visited Tropical Islands, about 480.000 of those booked an overnight stay. (eap)
