Germany: Tropical Islands Celebrates 10th Campsite Anniversary
As one of the first steps in its transformation into of a holiday resort, Tropical Islands (TI), which is located in Krausnick near the German capital of Berlin, opened a campsite in 2008 directly adjacent to the bathing complex, offering pitches for mobile homes and a meadow for tents. Today – in the tenth year of operation – the campsite has become a holiday park with over a hundred mobile homes, multi-purpose buildings and a wide range of additional leisure activities.
From barrier-free accommodation and dog-friendly holiday homes to luxurious houses with integrated infrared sauna cabins, guests can choose from a wide range of accommodation options on the campsite. The former team of four employees taking care of the campers’ well-being has grown to some 16 staff members today. For this year’s anniversary of the campsite, Tropical Islands has added two new luxury tents (from Bushtec, South Africa) and eight lodge tents (supplied by Luxe Tenten, Netherlands), partly equipped with a heating, private bathrooms and kitchenettes, meeting the demands of modern “glamping”. In addition, the range of activities has been expanded with a new archery range and a mini safari through the forest. Construction works on a new low-ropes course are set to start this year, the number of lodge and luxury tents will be further increased in 2019.
