Germany: VDFU Claims Revision of Minimum Wage Legislation
The German Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (VDFU) calls for a revision of the amendments recently made to the documentation duty with regard to minimum wages. The new legislation does not include seasonal workers which, according to VDFU president Klaus-Michael Machens, needs to be changed as amusement parks mainly operate seasonally. Therefore, politics have to focus more on Germany’s business reality. “When making the amendments, the employment minister, Ms Nahles, chose the easiest way. The regulations and so-called corrections are not well-conceived and do not match business reality. This is why German amusement parks are against increasing bureaucracy,” Machens comments. In concrete terms, VDFU demands that the income limit of up to 2,000 Euro requiring the documentation of working time also applies to seasonal workers. Furthermore, the daily working time needs to be extended to more than ten hours if necessary. In addition to that, for VDFU it is essential to achieve legal security with regard to customer liability, making them only responsible in cases of intent or gross negligence. (eap)
