Germany: Wananas Herne Shines in a New Look
Following a fire around five years ago, which destroyed the old Wananas recreational bathing complex in Herne, Germany, the bathing facility recently re-opened under the same name as a new leisure, sports and club’s bathing complex.
The two areas sports and leisure divide Wananas, which was planned by Germany-based architecture firm Krieger, into two separated areas: While a 25-meter pool with one and three meter diving boards and a training pool serve for school and club sports activities in particular, the recreational area is aimed at families with children. The leisure pool covers an area of some 380 square meters and features a 65-meter long tube slide and a wide slide, both supplied by aquarena. A flow channel and a cave create additional bathing fun and children find a special challenge in a climbing wall from the German company Lepping. Furthermore, the area features two water playgrounds with play elements from Diedrichs and Dutch Aqua Drolics as well as three sauna cabins supplied by Müther. (eap)
